Employment of Minors

Although the NYS Education Department administers the system of providing minors in our state with working papers, we are not authorized to issue them.  Working Certificates are issued to applicants by our public schools.  The applicant must be present at the office to sign their permit or certificate in front of the certificating officer.  In addition to an application containing an original parent signature, you must also present proof of your age (copy of your birth certificate) and a note from a medical doctor, which is less than a calendar year old, indicating you have had a physical and are fit to work.
