The May CPI rate for calculating maximum possible increases for pupil transportation contract extensions in the 2008-2009 school year is 4.0%.      

08/27/08  -  Reducing School Bus Idling - Requirements and Notice Materials for School Districts

08/12/08  -  New York School Bus Contractor's Association (NYSBCA) will hold the 2008 Annual Convention from October 17th-19th at the Turning Stone Resort & Casino.                                 

06/26/08 -  Epilepsy Foundation has training for school bus drivers on seizures and epilepsy.

              - SBDIs who miss a PDS may request a hardship by August 31, 2008 by contacting
                 Nancy at PTSI.

              - U.S. Food & Drug Administration (FDA) has issued a public health advisory on
                 Chantix (Varenicline) which poses a concern for school bus drivers.

11/16/07 - The National Congress on School Transportation (formerly known as the National Standards Conference) seeks committee volunteers for the 15th Annual Congress to be held May, 2010.   

09/04/07 - Requirements for Student School Bus Safety Drills. School districts are required to conduct training and three (3) safety drills for all students at prescribed times during each school year. The superintendent certifies to SED that the instruction and drills have been conducted for all pupils.

04/03/07 - Chapter 53 of the Laws of 2007 (NYS Budget) contains $400,000 for the School Bus Driver Training program for the 2007-2008 school year.
