- Technical Assistance Meetings for LEAs Eligible for 2006-2009 Reading First Grants
- Technical Assistance for Eligible Reading First LEAs: A series of questions and answers pertaining to the Reading First 2006-2009 are available to assist eligible Reading First LEAs.
- Early Childhood Policy Statement and Public Forums: In July 2005, the Board of Regents revised the early childhood policy statement, “Early Education for Student Achievement in a Global Community”. Through October 31, the public was invited to participate in scheduled public discussion forums and/or to submit written comments and recommendations for implementation of the revised policy. All comments and recommendations will be reviewed and presented to the Board of Regents at its November meeting.
- Assessment Measures and Timeframes for 2005-2006: The Assessment Framework has been updated to reflect 2005-2006 timeframes for administration of Reading First required screening, mid-year progress monitoring and outcome assessments. All Reading First schools (Cohort A and B) are required to administer Reading First assessments according to the Assessment Framework.
- Cohort B - Fall 2005 Assessments Administration and Reporting Procedures: Assessment administration and reporting procedures for Cohort B schools were released in June 2005. The purpose of Cohort B Fall assessment reporting is to collect Reading First program baseline data (to be reported to SED via Reading First LEAP). Cohort B schools will also administer Reading First screening assessments, to be used for instructional planning.
- Additional Reading First Grants Awarded - New York State Education Department is pleased to announce the recipients of additional Reading First grant awards.
