Bronx Charter School for the Arts (BCSA) Dissemination Grant purpose is to train and support newly established charter schools opening in Fall 2010 and Fall 2011. To accomplish this, BCSA is creating a four component program that will provide comprehensive training and support for these new charter schools in the areas of operations, finance, compliance, and governance for leaders of autonomous, non-managed charter schools. The Charter School for Applied Technologies (CSAT) Dissemination Grant is focused on creating an on-line curriculum mapping tool. This system will be accessible by all state schools and districts, and will allow them to more easily create curriculum maps, unit plans and lesson plans that are linked to the state learning standards. It will also include actual curricula from the Charter School for Applied Technologies that can be copied and subsequently modified by any other school. The Renaissance Charter School is currently working with an established consortium of New York City based charter schools in launching the Developing, Disseminating & Integrating Learning Experiences (2DILE) project. 2DILE is establishing a comprehensive approach to validate and disseminate learning experiences among charter schools. Westminster Community Charter School (WCCS) is utilizing the dissemination grant to fund ongoing conference and staff development activities. The primary purpose is to share, with partner schools in Western New York, Westminster’s approach to using the Columbia Teachers College Reading and Writing Project as part of the ELA curriculum . In addition, these schools are learning instructional leadership, classroom management, and other best practices WCCS has implemented. The Williamsburg Charter High School (WCHS) dissemination grant project focuses on assisting the Believe Northside Charter High School (BNCHS) and the Believe Southside Charter High School (BNCHS) in the initial stages of opening and with the schools’ first two years of operation. All aspects of the new school will be modeled after the successful programs of WCHS. This is being accomplished through conferences, small group sessions, on-site and off-site meetings, training's, and advice from a variety of consultants.
