SUBJECT:   Title IIA and Professional Development Plan Monitoring

The Office of Planning and Professional Development is implementing monitoring procedures for NCLB Title IIA and the State Professional Development Plan (PDP) requirement under Commissioner’s Regulation 100.2. The monitoring consists of two parts. The first part is a desk audit of the District Professional Development Plan and the Title IIA section of the 2003-04 Consolidation Application. The second part is a site visit to monitor implementation of the plan in a subset of these districts. Your district has been identified to be monitored this year. Please submit your PDP to the Office of Planning and Professional Development by October 15, 2004 at emscpdp@mail.nysed.gov. If your PDP is available on your district’s website, you may submit the web address instead of the document itself. We will use the 2003-04 Consolidated Application already on file with the Department for Title IIA.

You will be notified by October 29, 2004 if your district has been selected to be included in the site visits. Staff will then contact you to schedule the visit. The visits will include interviews with district staff, members of the PDP committee, and review of relevant materials. We do not anticipate that visits to individual school buildings will be necessary. You will receive more information prior to the visit.

If you have any questions please contact the Office of Planning and Professional Development at (518) 473-7155.
