Notice to Teachers

Grade 8 Intermediate-Level Science

Written Test Spring 2007

This notice pertains to the scoring of Part II, questions 54 and 57 on the Grade 8 Intermediate-Level Science Written Test Spring 2007.

Question 54 gives “respiratory” as the acceptable response for the system responsible for “exchanging gases between the blood and the environment.” Credit should also be allowed for “circulatory” system, since it is also involved in gas transport and exchange.

Question 57 gives “nucleus” as the acceptable response. Credit should also be allowed for “chloroplast” and “cytoplasm” since they also contain genetic material.

Please photocopy this notice and give a copy of it to each teacher scoring the examination.
