The State Education Department has postponed the implementation of the social studies component-retesting program for at least one year. The Department had anticipated providing component retests in Global History and Geography and United States History and Government beginning in May 2003, but serious cost and production constraints have made that impossible. The Department will provide component retests for these two Regents examinations as soon as circumstances permit. Regional turnkey scorer training will be conducted prior to the first administration of the social studies component retests.

Any seniors (or other students) who failed the January 2003 Regents examinations in Global History and Geography and/or United States History and Government should continue to receive Academic Intervention Services in preparation for the appropriate June 2003 social studies Regents examination(s).
