TO: District Superintendents Superintendents of Public and Nonpublic Schools Principals of Public, Nonpublic, and Charter Schools
FROM: David Abrams
SUBJECT: Adjustment in Schedule for the Administration of the 2006 NYSESLAT
The purpose of this memorandum is to advise you about adjustments in the shipping, administration and scoring windows for the 2006 New York State English as a Second Language Achievement Test (NYSESLAT). Because many schools around the State will be on spring recess during the week of April 17, 2006, materials for the NYSESLAT speaking subtest will be delivered to schools on Monday April 24, 2006 and Tuesday, April 25, 2006 rather than on the dates originally planned. Materials for the Listening, Reading, and Writing subtests will be delivered on May 3-5, 2006. The Department has also added an additional week to the administration window for all four subtests of the test. Schools may administer the Speaking subtest only between April 24 and May 26, 2006. Schools must administer the Listening, Reading, and Writing subtests of the NYSESLAT between May 8 and May 26, 2006. Each school may choose its own testing days within that time period. All schools must complete the administration of all four subtests by May 26, 2006.
A complete NYSESLAT 2006 revised testing schedule
will be available on the Department’s NYSESLAT website:
