Auditions will be held in three
regional locations.
To audition, students should complete the
application form and return it at least two weeks before the
scheduled date of the audition selected. Applicants must include a
snapshot of themselves clear enough for facial identification. Upon
receipt of this application, students will be sent further information.
Each audition will consist of a 20-minute to one hour period of
classroom work. Please bring leotards, tights, and ballet slippers to the audition. Girls
should also bring pointe shoes. Adjudicators will evaluate and rate your performance on
the basis of their observations during the audition session. You will be notified by mail
in early April about the outcome of your audition.
Sixty young dancers are selected for membership in the School of
Ballet, on the basis of their performances at regional auditions. Damian Woetzel and other
artistic staff members will conduct the selection process. The auditions for this
years School of Ballet will be held in the Capital District area, New York City area
and the Rochester area (see above.)
