Comments: NYSSSA allowed me to better understand myself both as a musician and as a person. It enabled me to break free of high school constraints, to expand my horizons toward future hopes and goals, and to attain those goals while establishing a meaning of self.

Comments: Coming from a town of 700 people, I literally had no opportunities for pursuing orchestral music. SOS gave me the chance to play in a great orchestra, but more importantly I made wonderful friends who shared my love of music.

What I'm doing now: I am an elementary string teacher (grades 3-6) in two elementary
schools in the Oceanside UFSD in Nassau Co. I am currently serving out my second year as Nassau Elementary Co-Chair for LISFA. I play with several community orchestras.
Comments: Without SOS, I don't think I would be the person that I've become. SOS opened up a ton of doors of opportunity for me. Stanger is inspirational and unlike any conductor I've worked with since then.
