Academy consultants serve as consultants to the New York State Education Department for the purpose of assisting with the Statewide Peer Review for the New York State Academy for Teaching and Learning. These individuals have broad experience as well as depth of understanding of their discipline and years of activity in their professional organizations. Their specific responsibilities for the year include:

• promoting the Statewide Peer Review by providing information on the conduct of the review;
• coaching teachers in preparation for the Statewide Peer Review;
• partnering with Model Schools Coordinators on learning experiences that incorporate technology;
• facilitating the annual Statewide Peer Review; and
• providing teachers the necessary follow-up, from the Statewide Peer Review, to become members of the New York State Academy for Teaching and Learning.
