Assessment Plan
Description:

A variety of assessment methods are used to measure if the performance indicators have been met.

  • Checklists to see that children are experiencing learning centers.
Each child writes his/her name on a daily list at each center or places name card (with name & photograph) in a pocket at center. These records can be checked off on a master list each day.

  • Simple Rubric for pictorial or written work. (See Rubric below)

  • Anecdotal Records
Notes taken through observation during playtime reflect growth and participation in learning experiences over a period of time. Cards are tucked into teacher's pocket. Most observations are very short and are done when an observed learning response seems to have occurred during informal activities. Later this can be transcribed onto card in child's portfolio.

  • Portfolios to observe growth.
A portfolio may include samples of a child's work over time and the anecdotal records described above. This is helpful information for parent conferences. The child’s picture used for the quilt will be added to the portfolio.
