- Planning
Approximately
one full week of planning time is needed to determine what curricular goals will be set
and what key competencies and study skills students will be asked to perform. Furthermore,
while materials are readily available in textbooks and/or supplementary sources, this time
is also needed to gather and examine them, and to plan their use.
- Implementation
Six-seven
days of forty-four minute periods is needed for implementation of the six lessons in this
unit. In addition, a four to five week period would be allotted for students to develop a
Revolutionary Museum project. Most of this work is done outside of class.
- Assessment
1.
Assessment during the unit involves checking student homework for understanding. This is
done on a daily basis as each assignment is handed in over the six to seven days of the
unit.
2. The time needed for the final assessment - the Revolutionary Museum - would be two
days. During this time students make a visual presentation - a quilt square, mobile,
diorama, sculpture, painting/drawing or sketch. Each presentation would be supported by a
one - two page fact sheet which would provide evidence of research and briefly describes
the accomplishments as well as the significance of the revolutionary figure. The time for
assessing the fact sheet and the data base is included in the two days.
