In this learning experience students create spreadsheets of recipe ingredients and prepare a cooking show presentation.

Student

Students need to provide all materials for the recipe they choose. This includes ingredients, bowls, spoons, measuring utensils, and cooking materials.

Teacher

  1. Calculators
  2. Computers with word-processing and spreadsheet software
  3. Access to a television and VCR
  4. Apron
  5. Chef’s hat
  6. Cooking video (15-20 minutes, any type)
  7. Cookbooks
  8. Video camera
  9. Blank VCR tape
  10. Weights and measures chart (located in the index)
  11. A letter written to the parents of the students, prior to starting this unit, explaining its purpose and real-world connection will help to encourage parent assistance with cooking materials.
