In this learning experience students create spreadsheets of recipe ingredients and prepare a cooking show presentation.
Student
Students need to provide all materials for the recipe they choose. This includes ingredients, bowls, spoons, measuring utensils, and cooking materials.
Teacher
- Calculators
- Computers with word-processing and spreadsheet software
- Access to a television and VCR
- Apron
- Chef’s hat
- Cooking video (15-20 minutes, any type)
- Cookbooks
- Video camera
- Blank VCR tape
- Weights and measures chart (located in the index)
- A letter written to the parents of the students, prior to starting this unit, explaining its purpose and real-world connection will help to encourage parent assistance with cooking materials.
