Student material presented as models includes work from students with disabilities, limited English proficiency, and bilingual students. It also includes work from students in different settings such as prison schools, GED programs, vocational placements, hospitals, as well as traditional schools and classes for the gifted. Seeing peer work published encourages students to participate in the project.

Students work on subjects that they choose. All students are published as long as they contribute pictures and writing. The teacher, artist or peer editor works with the student to clarify expression, and correct spelling and punctuation.
