The Community School District 7 Extended School Day and Violence Prevention Program is a continuation of last year's successful initiative. The proposed program will target the following schools:
- Public School 5
- Public School 18
- Public School 25
- Public School 30
- Public School 43
- Public School 154
- Public School 161
- Intermediate School 139
- Intermediate School 183
- Intermediate School 184
- Junior High School 149
The target schools are categorized as SURR, Priorit or Title 1 School In Need of Improvement.
The target schools display low academic achievement levels, high numbers of limited English proficient pupils, low attendance levels, and exceptionally high levels of poverty.
The Extended School Day and Violence Prevention Program will support collaborations with the following agencies:
- Leadership Program, Inc. (formerly the Central Park Historical Society, Inc.)
- Sports and Arts in Schools Foundation
In addition, school staff will provide after school enrichment in English language arts and mathematics literacy
The program will be assessed using a variety of formative and summative evaluation protocols.
