**Program Description**

The Community School District 27 Extended School Day and Violence Prevention Program has been carefully designed by representatives of the school-based Leadership Teams at each of the ten school sites and staff from the following collaborators:

• Leadership Program, Inc. (Conflict Resolution/Leadership Training)
• New York Junior Tennis League (Extended Day Sports Programs)
• Progress, Inc. (Parent Programming)

The ten target schools were selected on the basis of their SURR (Public Schools 43, 123 and Middle School 198) or School In Need of Improvement/potential corrective action status; levels of incidents and pupil suspensions; level of parent participation; poverty levels; size of the enrollment; and a review of other programs operative at each site.

The Leadership Program, Inc. will implement its proven effective Leadership Program (a sixteen-component initiative that focuses on goal orientation, personal and social responsibility, and conflict resolution). The Junior Tennis League will provide the schools with after school tennis programs. Progress, Inc. will provide parent engagement services at all sites that will help parents become involved in the education of their children and increase their participation in school-sponsored initiatives.

Services will be evaluated using formative protocols (e.g. counts of participants) as well as program assessments including the use of reliable and validated instruments developed by the Leadership Program, Inc.
