Leadership is a dynamic urban organization that enriches lives, emboldens confidence and expands options by building strong leaders in classrooms and communities

The In Class Enrichment (ICE) Project offers a variety of tailored in class programs, in keeping with new educational initiatives and the ever-growing needs of our schools.

Conflict Resolution and Violence Prevention remain our largest programs.  Additionally, we have developed numerous projects that can be modified to meet the challenges of building an effective, safe learning environment.  These projects currently include:

  • Violence Prevention Project (VPP)
  • Character Education
  • Mediation
  • Mentoring
  • Arts
    • Visual Arts
    • Theater
  • Advisory
  • Study Skills
  • Life Skills
  • Bullying Prevention
  • Embracing Differences

Our violence prevention project is a highly effective conflict resolution program for students and staff, implemented by skilled Leadership Program Trainers, typically during a twelve visit residency.  Our staff of over 70 Leadership Trainers is rigorously trained in our unique research-based interactive leadership curriculum.

Our Project curriculum manuals contain a variety of teacher-friendly lesson plans with a total of more than 100 interactive activities for all ages.  Each activity in the curriculum manuals is carefully tied to both the New York State and New York City performance standards and is structured with a concrete aim and objective.  All curriculum activities demonstrate a communicative and cooperative process that allows the educator to become a facilitator of ideas, and affords students the opportunity to become empowered as decision makers in the learning community.

We train teachers through workshops and in-class modeling to enable students to manage conflict effectively, build resilience to the negative risk factors that influence their lives, learn the arts and life and study skills, and meet high behavioral standards necessary for academic success.

The Leadership Program In Class Enrichment Project provides services in over 130 public schools in all five boroughs of New York City.
