Program Description Our
mission is to develop leaders to promote individual and social
responsibility, and to empower students, educators and parents to
fulfill their dreams and to reach their highest potential. The
Violence Prevention Project is
a highly effective conflict resolution program for students and staff,
implemented by skilled Leadership
Program Trainers, typically during a twelve visit residency.
Our staff of
over 70 Leadership Trainers is rigorously
trained in our unique research-based interactive leadership
curriculum. The
Project curriculum manuals contain over 25 teacher-friendly lesson plans
with more than 75 interactive activities for all ages.
Each activity in the curriculum is carefully tied to both the New
York State and New York
City performance standards and is structured with a concrete aim
and objective. All curriculum activities demonstrate a communicative and
cooperative process that allows the educator to become a facilitator of
ideas, and affords students the opportunity to become empowered as
decision makers in the learning community. The
manual includes units of study in the following areas: Introduction
to Leadership
Self-Concept Cooperation/Group
Dynamics
Feelings and Empathy Vision
and Imagination
Conflict Management Social
Responsibility
Academic Excellence Character

Leadership in Action We
train teachers through workshops and in-class modeling to enable
students to manage conflict effectively, build resilience to the
negative risk factors that influence their lives, and meet
high behavioral standards necessary for academic success. The
Leadership Program Violence Prevention Project provides services in over
130 public schools in all five boroughs and all ten regions throughout
New York City. For more information on The Leadership Program’s Violence Prevention Project please
