One To World’s Global Classroom is a one-of-a-kind program through which trained Fulbright Scholars and international college and graduate students develop and deliver curricula-based workshops on various global issues in New York City schools and after-school programs.  Global Classroom speakers lead interactive lessons focused on a wide range of current issues, historical events and academic disciplines to help students and teachers meet their curricular requirements, while making face-to-face connections across global cultures.

Through Extended School Day/School Violence Prevention partnerships, Global Classroom aims to:

  1. Support school safety and violence prevention initiatives by fostering cultural understanding, breaking down prejudice, and contributing to a peaceful school environment;
  2. Enrich students' understanding of cultures that are different from their own, with an emphasis on geography, world history, culture, foreign languages, the arts and other subjects;
  3. Build students’ self - esteem and tolerance by emphasizing the value of all people and their different customs, physical appearances, accents, and religions;
  4. Prepare youth with the communication skills, global perspectives, leadership skills, and education necessary to become active citizens in the 21st century;
  5. Inspire students' to think about their community and the world and how they can make a difference;
  6. Improve students' skills in the areas of group discussion, literacy, and cooperation;  and
  7. Advance teachers' ability to incorporate awareness, understanding, and appreciation of other countries and cultures into their ongoing work with students.
