In BELL programs, we use the Stanford Diagnostic Reading Test-IV and Stanford Diagnostic Mathematics Test-IV as two of the primary methods of measuring student achievement for students in grades K through 6. School report cards and program Progress Reports are also used to assess student achievement while enrolled in BELL programs.
BELL After School Program National Outcomes, 2006-2007 School Year
- 78% of scholars demonstrated grade-equivalent gains.
- 24% of scholars demonstrated gains of one full year or more.
- For the sixth consecutive year, the Stanford Diagnostic Reading Test showed 100% of scholars at the “Failing” level in reading moving to higher levels by the end of the program.
- 51% of scholars at the “Needs Improvement” level in reading moved to higher levels.
- 77% of scholars were at the “Proficient” and “Advanced” levels in reading by the end of the program.
- Grades improved from an average C- to an average B-.
