Alternative Education Programs

Migrant dropouts and out-of-school youths (OSYs) can take advantage of the alternative academic programs available to them.

High School Equivalency program (HEP)
The HEP program is an eight week residential GED program for migrant and seasonal farm workers or their dependents.  The program which is located at the State University of New York at Oneonta,   offers migrant and seasonal farm workers who have dropped out of school the opportunity to obtain their GED diploma.  HEP classes are offered in both English and Spanish.  Expenses including instruction, housing and food are covered by the program for participating students.

COLLEGE ASSISTANCE MIGRANT PROGRAM (CAMP)
The CAMP Program located at the State University of New York at Oneonta is designed to provide students from migrant and seasonal farm working families, or their dependents, with a comprehensive array of support services including financial aid.  These services will enable them to successfully complete their first year of college.   The program assists first year migrant college students to develop the skills they need to ensure they stay in school and graduate from college.  This program also provides follow up services to migrant students entering their second year of college.
