Streamlining School District Planning and Reporting
The Board of Regents P-16 Plan recommends creating a statewide comprehensive P-16 data system to give educators the information they need to improve student achievement and graduation rates. The development of this system should incorporate streamlining school districts' accountability and reporting requirements. The School Paperwork Elimination and Reduction Act would reduce or eliminate unnecessary, redundant and outdated planning and reporting requirements for school districts. Districts currently submit 131 separate plans, applications and reporting to the State Education Department each year. This site lists the individual requirements and includes a 2003 report to the Legislature that provides a vision for this work.
