Educational Related Support Services (ERSS)
Education Law Section 3602(32) and Commissioner's Regulations 100.2 provide that non-classified students evidencing educational, behavioral, personality or social difficulties or speech impairment may receive educationally related support services and that districts may contract with BOCES for the services, but no BOCES aid may accrue as a result of recent legislation. Therefore, beginning September 1, 1999 BOCES must prepare to collect information from its component districts for any service in which ERSS eligible students receive a BOCES shared service that is being provided to a student as an educationally related support service. A deduction should be taken on the SA-112 that is filed in October 2000 and thereafter. Such services are likely in the 300 series Itinerant category and would likely include 5120-remedial reading; 5130-speech improvement; 5231-remediation; 6610-Guidance Counselor; 6810-School Psychologist; 6813-Diagnostic and Prescriptive: 6910-School Social Worker.
