expanding our AIS program to include afternoon sessions.  We added grade 5 to our elementary summer school program.  We intend to 
purchase supplies and materials that will enable students and teachers to work with current materials more appropriate to the  instruction
and NYS Learning Standards.  We also added a section to our Spectrum program which is an after school gifted and talented program for 
grades 3-5.  Professional development will include school administrators, teachers, support staff, and mentors.  We believe that building the
capacity of our teachers and administrators to more effectively provide instruction, analyze data, and develop specific action plans is critical.

teachers in the Literacy Collaborative model. We believe that building the capacity of our teachers and administrators to more

to assist with the ELL students at Walden Elementary. We intend to increase student time on task by expanding our AIS program to                        
include afternoon sessions.  We added grade 5 to our elementary summer school program.  We intend to purchase supplies and                         
materials that will enable students and teachers to work with current materials more appropriate to the instruction and NYS                         
Learning Standards.  We also added a section to our OM and Spectrum programs which after school gifted and talented programs                         
for grades 3-5.  Professional development will include school administrators, teachers, support staff, and mentors.  Teachers will                        
 receive training in the Literacy Collaborative model which we believe to be an excellent literacy program for all students and                        
students with disabilities.  We believe that addressing student needs in literacy will enable them to perform better in ELA, Math, and                          
Science.  We believe that building the capacity of our teachers and administrators to more effectively provide instruction, analyze data,                         
and develop specific action plans is critical.                        
                         
VALLEY CENTRAL MIDDLE SCHOOL

Program Description:The VC Middle School is actively pursuing many different strategies to address student needs in ELA.  Contract for  
Excellence funds will provide funding to increase the amount of time that students in Grade 6 receive from tutors when they are absent
for long periods of time due to illness or long term suspension. The Middle School intends to provide a transitional program                        
(WEB) for students entering the Middle School in Grade 6.  Training would take place this year and the program would be                        
implemented in 2008-09.  We intend to provide our school administrators with further professional development to enable  them to                         
better analyze the data and develop efficient plans to address student needs.  We also intend to provide additional training for our                        
mentor teachers which will enable them to better serve our new teachers.  Funding will also be used to provide updated textbooks                         
and other equipment to ensure student time on task.                        
VALLEY CENTRAL HIGH SCHOOL

Program Description:The Valley Central School District intends to develop a student intervention progam that will address our targeted goals.
One of our major goals is to have the "All Students" group and the subgroups make AYP in ELA in 2007-08.  Accomplishing this goal will 
lead to our being removed from the SRAP List since we made AYP in all areas 2006-07.  This goal directly relates to our other goals                        
which are to improve our graduation rate and lower our dropout rate.
