What Assessment Analyses Can I Get from nySTART?

nySTART provides the following analyses at the school and district level of ELA and mathematics results by grade:

·       The percentages of tested students at each performance level, at Level 3 and above, and at Level 2 and above, and the mean scale score for each grade;

·       The percentage of tested students at each performance level for each NCLB required group:  general education students, students with disabilities, limited English proficient students, economically disadvantaged students, students in each racial ethnic group, males, females, and migrant students;

·       Performance on each Standard Performance Index (SPI) compared with the State and the percentages of students below each SPI target, meeting each target, and above each target;

·       Item analyses, including the percentage of students in the school, district, and State who answered each multiple-choice question correctly. Statewide comparisons are provided for students scoring at the Level 2, Level 3, and Level 4 Cut Scores;

·       The average number of points earned on each constructed-response question in the school, district and State; Statewide comparisons are provided for students scoring at the Level 2, Level 3, and Level 4 Cut Scores; and

·       A list of all tested students with the following information for each: scale score, performance level, and an indicator for each SPI as to whether the student scored below the SPI target, met the target, or scored above the target.

For each grade level of the NYSAA, nySTART will show the percentage of students at each performance level and a list of students with each student’s performance level.

For each grade span (test form) of the NYSESLAT, nySTART will show the percentage of students at each performance level and a list of students with each student’s performance level.
