Release Name: Data
Verification Report – Enrollment and Demographics
Tuesday, March 14, 2006
Browser requirements:
- Screen resolution of 1024 x 768 is desired to see
most/all of the report on the screen. At 800 x 600 resolution some of the
report will not fit on the screen. (the reports will still work though)
- IE browsers have been most commonly tested. Firefox,
Netscape, and AOL have worked as well. The user should be using a relatively
current version of the browser; there are no browser-dependent features
built into the software.
- Excel is required on the user's PC in order to access
the Excel output option.
- The following "file type" setting is also required to
view Excel output: Windows Explorer > Tools > Folder Options > File Types >
select XLS file type > make sure that 'Open with' value is Excel

New Features:
This is the initial release of the nySTART application.
Logins are provided for public school districts and charter schools.
Nonpublic schools that have opted to participate in Grades 3 through 8
testing and the State Repository System are also provided with logins.
This release provides access to the first in a series of verification
reports, "Data Verification Report – Enrollment and Demographics". This
report provides demographic information including birth date, gender,
ethnicity, disability classification, limited English proficiency status,
immigrant, and poverty data for each student. Included in the report are
detailed instructions on how to use the report and a link to a Statement of
Certification.
Known Issues:
When clicking on a Total Enrollment column summary value (e.g., summary
totals at the bottom of the Summary Report), the Detail Report will repeat
multiple times when exported to PDF and Excel.
When clicking on a Total Enrollment column summary value (e.g., summary
totals at the bottom of the Summary Report), the Detail Report header will
only display one school BEDS Code and one school name even though the
resulting data is over multiple schools.
When a report (Summary and Detail) is exported to Excel, the date field
is converted to Excel’s General Number category, losing the date-time
format.
When a report (Summary and Detail) is exported to PDF, the NYSED logo
might not appear properly.
If screen resolution is not set to 1024x768 or higher, the right scroll
bar might be ineffective to scroll to the bottom of the page. Please use the
roller on the mouse or the arrow keys on the keyboard to scroll.
Local security settings within the operating system or browser might
prevent the NYSED logo from appearing on the website.
Fixes: N/A. This is the initial release of nySTART.
