TO:
District Superintendents
Superintendents of Public Schools
FROM:
Kevin McCarthy

SUBJECT:
Career and Technical Education Data System, 2008-2009

The State Education Department annually collects enrollment and follow-up data about Career and Technical Education (CTE) programs. This data, collected through the Career and Technical Education Data System (CTEDS), is used to determine the condition of CTE throughout the State. This data is also reported to the United States Department of Education as required under the federal Carl D. Perkins Vocational-Technical Education Act.

The forms and instructional manuals to be used in providing information for the 2008-2009 Career & Technical Education Data System (CTEDS) can be found on the web at http://www.emsc.nysed.gov/irts/cteds/. Please read the directions carefully.  Return one (1) copy to the address below.  Retain a copy of the completed form in the event we need to contact you for clarification.  If your district does not conduct a Career and Technical Education Program, please enter a zero in the “Grand Total Box”, sign and date the Certification Statement on the front page of the form and return it.

STUDENTS WHO ATTEND BOCES ARE TO BE REPORTED BY THE BOCES, NOT BY THE DISTRICT.

All materials should be submitted not later than April 17, 2009 to:
