Secondary Data Collection for the 2006-07 School Year

Our final version of STEP is now available.  Version 5.51 must be used to generate the spn export for loading historical secondary data into the data repositories.   You should download Version 5.51 to a new folder that contains a copy of the back-end database (STEP 500B.mdb) you are using for export to the repository.   The spn export will run only if data pass all level 1 edit checks.

Version 5.51 passes commas imbedded in name fields through to the export SPN file. Previous versions converted imbedded commas to /004 so that all commas in the spn export file were unambiguous field separators.  Version 5.51 also imports the new imbedded comma style, should that be necessary or desired.

The STEP database you should export for loading into the repository should contain all STEP records reported in the 2005-06 school year.  If your district detected data reporting errors after the final submission deadline for 2005-06 STEP files, you should correct your district STEP file so that data loaded to the repository are as accurate as possible.   These changes will not change 2005-06 school year data reported in school report cards and accountability reports, but will ensure future cohort aggregations and reports for the 2006-07 and future school years are correct.
