Please DO NOT DELETE records from
your STEP database. Your current STEP database should include all records
required to be reported in 2002-2005, plus any records that have been
added for the 2006 collection. These records should be made as
correct as possible. Data from this file will be uploaded into the
Level 2 and Level 3 Repositories. A new version of STEP for
2005-06 data is now available. This will better allow districts to work
on their files. Please see the STEP Software
Release Notes for more detailed information.
DEADLINES:
STEP .spd files for the 2005-06 school year are due as follows:
- If any school in your district that is required to provide STEP data
did not make adequate yearly progress based on the 2004-05 school year
data or if any of those schools were in need of improvement during the
2005-06 school year, your 2005-06 STEP file is due on August 4, 2006.
- If all schools in your district that are required to provide STEP
data made adequate yearly progress based on the 2004-05 data submitted
and none of those schools were in need of improvement during the 2005-06school year, your 2005-06 STEP file is due on
August 18, 2006.
- If your STEP file is not received before the deadline for your
school district, we cannot guarantee that you will have an opportunity
to send corrected data.

Database Maintenance:
We suggest that all users compact both the front-end and back-end .mdb
files regularly. Also, if you experience unexpected and unexplained STEP
system behavior. Compact both the front and back ends of your database.
You may need to do this process more than once.
How to Compact a
Database (this procedure requires a full-featured installation)
Compact a Database with
a Right-Click (this will work with Runtime installations)
