Reporting for the 2004-05 School Year

Please DO NOT DELETE records from your STEP database. Your current STEP database should include all records required to be reported in 2002-2004, plus any records that have been added for the 2005 collection.

June 2005 Math B score reporting in STEP:  For students who took the Regents examination in Mathematics B on June 23, 2005, districts will need to report in STEP the final score using the 'new' conversion chart that was posted on June 24, 2005 at 3:15 p.m. Please refer to the conversion chart  on the Office of State Assessments website.

A new version of STEP for 2004-05 data is now available. This will better allow districts to work on their files. Please see the STEP Software Release Notes for more detailed information.

DEADLINES:

STEP .spd files for the 2004-05 school year are due as follows:

  • If any school in your district that is required to provide STEP data did not make adequate yearly progress based on the 2003-04 school year data or if any of those schools were in need of improvement during the 2004-05 school year, your 2004-05 STEP file is due on August 5, 2005.
  • If all schools in your district that are required to provide STEP data made adequate yearly progress based on the 2003-04 data submitted and none of those schools were in need of improvement during the 2004-05 school year, your 2004-05 STEP file is due on August 19, 2005.
  • If your STEP file is not received before the deadline for your school district, we cannot guarantee that you will have an opportunity to send corrected data.

Database Maintenance:

We suggest that all users compact both the front-end and back-end .mdb files regularly. Also, if you experience unexpected and unexplained STEP system behavior. Compact both the front and back ends of your database. You may need to do this process more than once.

How to Compact a Database (this procedure requires a full-featured installation)
Compact a Database with a Right-Click (this will work with Runtime installations)

Runtime version: MS Access 2000© Runtime Installation Program
