New York State General Educational Development (GED) Testing Office

The New York State GED Testing Office of the New York State Education Department coordinates GED Test administration throughout New York State. The Office is responsible for all aspects of GED Testing, including:

  • Scoring of all GED Test materials;
  • Generation of New York State High School Equivalency Diplomas and/or transcripts;
  • Training all Examiners who administer the GED Tests; and
  • Maintaining GED Testing Records, which date back to the 1950’s.

Please Note: The GED Tests are only given at official GED Testing Centers approved by the New York State Education Department.  There is no online or computer-based GED testing available at the present time.
