Questions & Answers

(For previous RFP that was due December 11, 2006)

Questions and Answers for New Teacher Resource and Computer Training Centers RFP:

Q:  What is the total amount available to all NYS school districts and BOCES?
A:  The total amount available for new Teacher Centers is $600,000.

Q:  What will be the amount of the average grant?
A:  The minimum grant award for current existing Teacher Centers is $60,000. There are 40 out of       127 current Teacher Centers with grant awards of under $75,000, but there is not a restricted amount for any new grant application.

Q:  How many grants does NYSED expect to award?
A:  The expectation is that less than ten new Teacher Center grant awards will be made.

Q:  Are these grants “earmarked” for the districts without any existing Teacher Center?
A:  There is no earmark for who will be awarded grants, but the scoring rubric provides priority for applications from school districts and BOCES that are not currently served by a Teacher Center.

Q:  Will an application from a BOCES or school districts that has previously belonged to a Teacher Center be less competitive?
A:  The scoring rubric provides for the establishment of two lists. One list will be established for school districts and BOCES not being served by a Teacher Center and another list for districts that currently are being served, but desire to have their own Teacher Center. Funds will be distributed to applications with a passing score (75) from the list of school districts and BOCES not being served first. If any funds remain, applications with a passing score from school districts or BOCES that are currently being served by an existing Teacher Center will also be funded. Awards are made to the application with the highest score and if funds remain to the next highest score until the available funds are exhausted.
