| Introduction/Background: | The Targeted Prekindergarten (TPK) program was established in 1966. Currently 96 school districts and BOCES are eligible to receive grants. |
| Purpose/Goal: | The primary purpose of this grant program is to provide a prekindergarten program for children with educational needs associated with poverty. |
| Eligible Applicants: | School districts and BOCES that received a TPK grant in the 2005-2006 school year are eligible to receive the same grant for the 2006-2007 school year. |
| Funding: | Source: State Funds Available: $50,200,000 |

Applications must be postmarked by July 14, 2006. Project Period: July 1, 2006 – June 30, 2007 |

The State Education Department (SED) maintains the right to ensure that funded programs are in compliance with all State laws and regulations governing the Targeted Prekindergarten Program and to recoup funds in the event that the grantee fails to provide the agreed upon services.
