Application for New and Former
Schools Under Registration Review (SURR)

July 1, 2005 - June 30, 2006

State grant funds are available for school districts with schools that have been identified as Schools Under Registration Review (SURR) to enable oversight of the restructuring and redesign process in schools that are farthest from State standards and most in need of improvement.  Legislation requires that these funds be appropriated for the exclusive purpose of providing additional services to SURR schools.  Where multiple SURR schools exist within a district, the allocation should be distributed equitably amongst the schools based on student enrollment.

Purpose of Allocation:  To support activities in New York State school districts with SURR schools and to implement their Corrective Action Plans, Comprehensive Education Plans, and Redesign Plans.

Grantees:  New York State school districts with SURR schools as of June 2004. 

Funds Available:  A total of $1,670,000 is available for the grant period July 1, 2005 to June 30, 2006 and will be allocated to districts with SURR schools as follows:

Program Goals:  Applicants can select the goal(s) that they wish to support under this grant from the following list.

Grant funds cannot be used to purchase computers, computer equipment, or meals, and they cannot be used to support summer 2006 school activities.
