2005-2006 Allocations for Title I, Parts A and D
of the No Child Left Behind Act
For New York State School Districts, Charter Schools and Special Act School Districts
Preliminary (as of 4/20/05)
In April 2005, the U.S.
Department of Education provided information to the State Education
Department that allowed us to compute preliminary 2005-2006 Title I
allocations. Please remember that these figures are preliminary,
meaning that they are subject to adjustments later in the year after our
receipt of final federal child count data, actual fall 2005 charter school
enrollments, and the final New York State 2005-2006 Title I allocation.
The following is a brief analysis of the preliminary 2005-2006 allocations:
If your LEA's preliminary 2005-2006 allocation is less than its final 2004-2005 allocation, you can be certain that the LEA's final 2005-06 allocation will also be less than its final 2004-2005 allocation.
Nearly every LEA will experience a decrease from 2004-2005. New York State's preliminary Title I allocation was cut by approximately $10 million from 2004-2005 because our State's portion of the number of U.S. children in poverty continues to decline.
If your LEA's preliminary 2005-2006 allocation computes to its hold-harmless level (85-95 percent of the previous year, based on poverty status), then the preliminary allocation will not differ substantially from the final allocation.
