Questions and Answers

  1. Are there any restrictions or recommendations in regards to number of pages in the Implementation Grant Proposal?

Answer: As the Request for Proposal indicates, the typed application narrative and budget narrative should be no longer than 10 pages and no smaller than 12 pt font.

  2. Please confirm address where the proposal is sent via email. Should a hard copy by mailed? Do you require a copy of the recently completed Audit?

Answer: The Application must be mailed to SED, Grants processing Unit, 674 EBA, 89 Washington Ave., Albany, NY 12234. No emailed submissions will be accepted. The mailed copy must contain all original signatures and the required number of copies. An audit report is not required for this application.

  3. If an applicant is planning in 2007-2008 and anticipating a 2008-2009 implementation should they just submit a budget for planning only at this time?

Answer: This competitive process is for charter schools that are opened and in the initial implementation phase. Charter schools that would like planning funds for 07-08 and implementation funds when the school is ready to open should apply for the New York State Charter School Program Planning and Implementation grant that is posted on the
SED web site and is due April 30, 2007.

  4. The RFP says that the due date for applications is Jan. 24, 2007.  The web site announcement says the due date is Jan. 31, 2007.  SED expects application to be submitted by 1/24/07 but they will be accepted until 1/31/07.
