 Q.    What about BOCES?  Is their limit also $10,000?

 A.     The maximum grant for which a BOCES can apply is $10,000.

 

 Q.    Will awards go to high need districts first?

 A.     A scoring rubric will be used to rate the applications.  None of the criteria include references to high need.

 

 Q.  Should vendors send curriculums to the State Education Department so school districts don’t have to do this? 

 A.  No, applicants are required to provide the Department with ALL required information.       

 

 Q.    Would charter schools or consortia of charter schools be eligible for the Child Abduction Prevention Education grants?

 A.    Neither charter schools nor consortia of charter schools are eligible for application for the CAPE grant funding.

 

 Q.    Are Districts that have applied for CAPE funding in the past, allowed to reapply for funding in 2007-2008?

 A.     There is nothing that precludes a District from reapply for these funds.  For example, the first application may have targeted grades six through eight.  A new application may allow for curriculum development for grades one through four.

 

 Q.    Can a consortium of Districts apply jointly for the CAPE funds?

 A.     Yes, a consortium of Public Schools may jointly apply.  However, if they do, this joint application may not exceed the maximum amount of $10,000.

 

 Q.    Is it appropriate for Districts to seek help in preparing their applications for the Child Abduction Protection Education funds?

A.     An applying District may gather information from multiple sources in order to prepare a strong application.  However, the District must submit the application in their name before the deadline of August 17, 2007.
