Harvard Principals’ Consortium
Summer 2008

 

Background:

The Principals’ Center at the Harvard Graduate School of Education is an organization dedicated to the personal and professional development of school principals and the many other stakeholders who crucially influence the character and quality of schools. The Principals’ Center is offering a demanding and rewarding Institute planned for summer 2008. The Institute has assembled an outstanding cadre of Harvard faculty, educational consultants, and school practitioners for an intensive eight-day of professional development. The Institute, “Leadership: An Evolving Vision” will be held in July 10 – July 18, 2008.  The institute is designed to refine and strengthen the skills necessary for effective school leadership. Purpose:

To raise student achievement through effective leadership development programs ensuring that school administrators are exposed to current strategies, resources and support that will maximize their chance for success.

Strategy:

The New York State Education Department (SED) will award competitive grants to appointed Principals from Title I Schools to attend the Harvard Principals’ Center’s Leadership: An Evolving Vision. The Title I schools must be:

The New York State Education Department (SED) will award six (6) grants in the amount of
$6,380 per Principal.  As follows:

Completed cover page, program narrative, superintendent’s statement of assurance, Principal’s statement of assurance, application (including requested essay) and FS-10 budget form must be submitted and postmarked by April 1st, 2008 to the New York State Education Department’s address listed below:
