Early Education and Reading Initiatives
The State Education Department's firm commitment to a P-16 educational system, is demonstrated by placing programs related to young children in the Office of Early Education and Reading Initiatives. This is a unique organizational design and New York is only one of several states to work in this manner; enabling a greater degree of coordination. This office is responsible for a wide range of educational programs and works closely with parents, early care and education agencies, schools and state agencies to make the New York early child system as seamless as possible.
