Subject: Additional Guidance on Access of Military Recruiters to Student Recruiting Information
In September, I disseminated a field memorandum concerning the responsibility of local educational agencies to provide military recruiters access to student recruiting information. The Department has received additional guidance from the U.S. Department of Education. Enclosed is a copy of a joint letter from Secretary of Education Rod Paige and Secretary of Defense Donald H. Rumsfeld that provides guidelines for compliance with the No Child Left Behind Act of 2001 and the National Defense Authorization Act for Fiscal Year 2002.
