SUBJECT: Approved Courses Meeting the High School Art/Music Requirement for Students Pursuing an Approved Career and Technical Education Sequence

Please share the following information with all appropriate staff. Recent inquiries to the Department indicated a need to clarify which high school courses, in addition to approved art education courses, may be used to fulfill the one credit of art/music study required for graduation for students pursuing an approved career and technical education sequence. These approved courses are:

  • Design and Drawing for Production (DDP)
  • Housing and Environment CORE
  • Clothing and Textile CORE

This information will be confirmed in the next issue of the School Executive's Bulletin. Additional supportive material for the Housing and Environment CORE and Clothing and Textile CORE courses will be distributed to the field in the fall to ensure that these courses are appropriate for the art credit requirement.
