POTENTIAL NEW DIRECTION 1
Developing and Implementing Programs of Study
to
Address Emerging Occupations
The program approval process has
succeeded in increasing the quality of CTE programs. The Department sees it as
a guiding framework from which other CTE programs could be updated and
improved.
Perkins IV funded Title I and
Title II projects would be required to set aside 10 percent of their own
funding to support planning and implementation of new, state-approved CTE
programs that adequately address high-skill, high-wage or high-demand
occupations, (particularly in emerging occupations) and better transitions to
post-secondary study.
The State Education Department is
soliciting advice on including this potential direction in the Perkins IV Five-Year
State Plan.
