SUBJECT: Building Capacity Through the Career Development and Occupational Studies (CDOS) Learning Standards

In preparation for discussion at your June meeting, the attached report provides updated information on the Career Development and Occupational Studies (CDOS) learning standards and their relationship to both workforce preparation and academic studies. The three main goals for occupational education in New York State are identified, as well as activities to address the goals. The report also provides information on programs across the State into which the CDOS learning standards have been integrated.

Included are three attachments; a listing of the Career Development and Occupational Studies learning standards (Attachment A); a memorandum to the field regarding occupational education (Attachment B); and a listing of the Universal Foundation Skills (Attachment C).

Respectfully submitted,
