AASL National School Library Media Program of the Year Award
Established in 1963, the National School Library Media Program of the Year (NSLMPY) Award honors school library media programs practicing their commitment to ensure that students and staff are effective users of ideas and information, as well as exemplifying implementation of Information Power. The award recognizes exemplary school library media programs that are fully integrated into the school's curriculum. Each winning program receives a $10,000 prize ($30,000 total) donated by Follett Library Resources. The Ezra Jack Keats Mini-grant Program
The Ezra Jack Keats Mini-grant Program for Public Schools and
Public Libraries supports educators, parents, and children
in their efforts to spread literacy and love of learning.
To be eligibe, the public schools and libraries must be
anywhere in the U.S. or its protectorates. The maximum
award amount is $500, and the deadline to apply is

The Verizon Foundation Proposals for Literacy Grants
The Verizon Foundation is now accepting proposals from eligible institutions for literacy grants. All 501(c)3
institutions, including public and private elementary and secondary schools that are registered with the National Center for Education Statistics (NCES), are eligible to

Books Across America (pdf)
The National Education Association's Books Across America Library Books Awards Program enables public school libraries serving economically disadvantaged students to purchase books. Maximum Award: $1,000. Eligibility: Practicing pre-kindergarten through grade 12 school librarians, teachers, or education support professionals in a U.S. public school in which at least 70 percent of the students are eligible for the free or reduced-price lunch program. World Book Information Literacy Award (rtf)
The World Book/ALA Information Literacy Goal Award seeks to promote exemplary information literacy programs in public and school libraries. The annual awards are designed to encourage and support innovative and effective information literacy programs in today’s school and public libraries by providing start-up funding of $5,000 to a promising public library information literacy program and $5,000 to a promising school library information literacy program. Information literacy is defined as the set of skills needed to find, retrieve, analyze, and use information. Applications will be accepted from June 1, 2008 to December 1, 2008.
