To Apply for Adult Education Teacher
Certification

The State Education Department prefers that you apply for Adult Education Certification online rather than with a hard copy. In this set of directions, you will be provided copies of pages from the website to help you navigate.
- Go to the New York State Education Department website for Adult, Community and Continuing Education at http://www.highered.nysed.gov/tcert/certificate/aducomm.htm.
- After reading the narrative, click the TEACH Online Services button.
- Click the "Self Registration to create a TEACH account" link in the far right column.
- A copy of the registration is shown. Click the Continue Arrow.
- Complete your registration to create your TEACH account.
- After you create an account, select ALL the Certificate Titles as follows:
- Select your Area of Interest: Other School Services
- Select your Subject Area: Adult Education
- Select the Grade Level: Adult Education
- Select the Title: Literacy and GED Preparation Instructor
- Make sure to fill out the superintendent statement online.
