TECHNOLOGY & DISTANCE LEARNING NEWS
Quality Framework – Technology Standards
The full integration of technology into the teaching/learning process is the goal of the technology initiative to gain skills for the student whether he/she is preparing for entry into the workforce or post secondary education.
Technology skills that teachers and managers currently possess have been evaluated so that we can design, develop and implement a technology plan, identify resources to assist teachers in the technology integration process, and address universal design.
Technology Integration Resources

The RAEN Directors in each of our seven regions have coordinated the statewide technology self assessment process. Program Managers and teachers took the TISA (Technology Integration Self Assessment) and those agencies that offer distance learning took the Distance Learning Self Assessment as well. The survey addressed personal and classroom technology skills along with the perceived importance of these skills.
The results of these self assessments will be the basis of a statewide technology professional development plan. SED has analyzed the data on a statewide level.
RAEN Directors will meet with the program managers in their regions to review the survey results and design a professional development plan. They will work with the state technology group to identify required skills sets, additional resources, best practices and a means of communicating and sharing information collaboratively so that we will have a consistent statewide initiative.
Program Managers are asked to provide leadership in the integration of technology into the teaching/learning process by understanding the technology in order to manage effective, quality adult education programs, and provide resources and training to their teaching staff.
The State Education Department is in the process of revising the state Technology Plan. Adult Education will align itself with the state plan, to develop a tool to infuse technology into adult education, assist in providing staff development, break down the current isolation that programs experience and bring virtual life into the classroom and share best practices. Are you ready?
The State Education Department would like to continue to work with program managers, teachers and students in the Adult Education Community to achieve our Technology Integration goals.
