The Board of Regents met on June 20-21, 2005. Major actions and discussions by the Board relating to elementary, middle, secondary and continuing education are noted below. Action

  • Approval of the proposed amendment to Section 100.2(p) of the Commissioner's Regulations relating to the registration of schools and school/district accountability.

  • Approval of the petition of Fonda-Fultonville City School District for consent to exceed the constitutional debt limit.

  • Approval of the revisions to the existing charters of the Bronx Charter School for Children and the Williamsburg Charter School.

  • Approval of the renewal of the charters for the John V. Lindsay Wildcat Academy Charter School and The Brooklyn Charter School for a period of one year.

  • Approval of the proposed charter for the Niagara Charter School.

  • Approval of the proposal to phase in the 65 graduation standard and to establish an appeals process, effective September 1, 2005.

  • Appointment of Carl L. DeHaney to the Roosevelt Union Free School District Interim Board of Education.

  • Proposed amendments to Part 200 of the Commissioner's Regulations relating to reauthorization of the Individuals With Disabilities Education Act (IDEA).
