The English Language Arts Core Curriculum (2005) provides grade-by-grade delineation of the performance indicators: what students should know, and be able to do, in prekindergarten through grade 12, as a result of skilled instruction. The four English language arts learning standards, however, have not changed. An addition to this new core curriculum is a literacy strand, prekindergarten through grade 8. The grade 9 to 12 component of the literacy strand will be posted when it becomes available.
